OUR ROME APARTMENT #1
Located in a 14th century Roman palazzo in the historic center of Rome, this very large, and luxurious, two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment adjoins Rome Apartment #2, such that large families sometimes occupy them both, wanting four bedrooms and four bathrooms. They occupy the entire “secondo piano” [American third floor] of the centrally-located palazzo. Although no elevator, the apartments are an easy walk up.
The plumbing, electrical, heating and air-conditioning systems are thoroughly updated. Our apartments both have new and fully-equipped kitchens [with dishwashers], new bathrooms, new heating and air conditioning [with individual controls], telephone, high speed internet, stereo systems, international [including English-speaking] TV’s, clothes washers and dryers, and hairdryers.
Both apartments were once occupied by an important merchant and feature antique coffered and beamed wood ceilings with gilt highlights. With the assistance of a well-known Rome architect, the apartments have been beautifully furnished with oriental carpets over oak floors, Italian antique furniture, and original artwork. The New York Times wrote an article on our apartments.
Rome Apartment #1 has a landscaped terrace where one can eat al fresco. Inside, it is quite large, approximately 1650 square feet. An entrance hallway leads into the large salone and dining room [that may seat up to 10]. There is a library, full of guidebooks and other books on Italy for our guests, as well as a small breakfast room. The kitchen is fully equipped and has all new appliances including a dishwasher. One bedroom has a queen size bed, writing desk and very large closets, and a bathroom with a tub/shower nearby. The other bedroom has two single beds which are usually combined to form a king-sized bed, and has its own bathroom with shower, and an adjoining small studio with desk with high speed internet connection. Apartment #1 has its own washer and dryer.
We also have a guide we wrote on how all systems in the apartment operate, restaurants and shops in the neighborhood, important phone numbers [pharmacies, etc.], and our Rome manager lives in an adjoining building.
