Our apartment is located on the top floor, the “secondo piano” [two floors above ground floor - the equivalent of an American third floor] of a building originally built in the 16th Century, but with thoroughly updated plumbing, wiring, etc, most recently in 2008.
The building is located on a peaceful street in the prestigious “Santo Spirito” residential neighborhood, a block from the Piazza S. Spirito. The beautiful Piazza S. Spirito has a public market daily, and is filled with open-air restaurants. Across the street from our palazzo are the palazzos of the Ferragamo and Fresobaldi families, respectively.
We are one block from Ponte S. Trinita bridge, which itself is only one bridge west of the famous Ponte Vecchio bridge and its gold shops. It is a 15 minute walk to the Duomo, the Pitti Palace, and all major sites. Within 2 blocks are some of the best restaurants in Florence, as well as groceries, wine and many antique shops, etc.
The main train station is also only a 15 minute walk, 5 minutes by taxi. There is easy access from the airport and from the autostrada with a private garage next door [but we advise against having a car in Florence – see “Frequently Asked Questions”]
There are beautiful walks, one block away, along the Arno.
